Moët on a Beijing rooftop
After a few hours, I decided to get myself a coffee at Starbucks. When I was waiting for my iced latte, an American teenage girl walked up to me and said: "You're gorgeous!" Three words, one sentence, and it made me so happy! So many of us, myself included, think about these things but we rarely tell the people our thoughts are concerning what we think of them. I'm going to try to be better at telling people whose clothes, haircut or way of being I like that I feel this way. If everyone did this, imagine how much happier we'd all be!
After Starbucks, I went to a big local market where they sell everything from pearl necklaces to Play Stations and I bought a couple of things. Not saying what though since I know my family is reading this and I might have got them something. I've really fallen in love with the art of bargaining. I love freaking the salesmen or women out by saying ridiculously low prices and walking away acting disappointed so they run after me and thereby accept the price I've offered. That feeling when you get something for 50 RMB when they started out asking for 1200 is pretty great!
After making a few saleswomen mad, I decided to go back to the hostel where I chatted with my roommates for a while and we decided to go grab a few beers and at 10pm we went on a hunt to get some Beijing Duck which was harder than we first thought since everything had starting closing by this time.
We ended up having some amazing wontons though, so I'm not complaining. Back at the hostel we met a couple of French guys who'd been at a party of some kind hosted by Tommy Hilfiger apparently and had managed to take a bottle of white wine and a Moët champagne with them. We spent the rest of the night drinking wine and champagne on the hostel's rooftop terrace and it was great!
